Colby came out swinging against Middlebury in the first game of the tournament. The Panthers had established themselves as one of the premier teams in the conference and have been the top Division III team for years. The Mules fought hard, and led 4-2 at halftime and 7-4 after three quarters. However, thanks to a substitution error on the Mules behalf and a furious Panther comeback, Middlebury scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to steal the victory away from Colby with a close 8-7 win. Jabez Dewey led Colby scorers with three goals, while Ryan Adams, Andrew Peterson, Mike Finnerty, and Travis Townsend all chipped in with one apiece.
After only two hours to rest, Colby was back in action against rival BC. BC dealt the Mules a loss in the first game of the season, but the Mules sought revenge. The game was back and forth throughout with Colby maintaining a slim one goal advantage for most of the game. Taking advantage of new shooting rules, Jabez Dewey stymied the BC defense, scorching them for five goals. Sam Wampler chipped in two goals, while Ryan Adams added one. In the greatest ending of the tournament, the Colby defense stopped a viscous BC onslaught with one minute remaining to win the match 8-7. Unfortunately for the Eagles, their last shot on goal (which went in) came just after the final horn sounded.
The final two games for the Mules proved to be much easier than the first two. After a nice, relaxing celebration BBQ on a picturesque Maine lake, the Mules hit the water to play a friendly match with UVM. Colby scored twelve goals (a season high) in its 12-6 win. Goals were scored by Jabez Dewey (4), Sam Wampler (2), Kerrill O'Neill (2), Jim Rockafellow (1), Zak Bloom (1), Travis Townsend (1), and Danielle Carlson (1).
In the Sunday game, the Mules came out rather sluggish versus Bates after a long night of celebrating the BC win from the previous day. After halftime, the Mules only led 5-4. However, after halftime, Colby put on its game face and outscored the Bobcats 6-0 in the third quarter. The Mules ended up winning the game 12-7. Goals were scored by Sam Wampler (3), Jabez Dewey (3), Ryan Adams (3), Travis Townsend (1), Carley Millian (1), and Kerrill O'Neill (1).
