In order to alleviate geographical pressures on the west coast conferences, Collegiate Water Polo has decided to realign the New England and North Atlantic conferences into two different post-season focuses. The new New England conference will include BC, BU, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Williams, and Yale. These teams will compete for the CWPA conference bid to the National Club Championships. The new North Atlantic conference will include Amherst, Bates, Bentley, Bowdoin, Colby, UVM, Trinity, Tufts, and Coast Guard. These teams will compete for the right to play at the Division III Club Championships.
While Colby will no longer be able to compete against rivals BC, Middlebury, and Dartmouth, there are many new teams which will prove to be formidable opponents in the new conference. The realignment gives Colby a better chance to reach post-season play since the new conference includes teams with similar school sizes and water polo opportunities.
